| We came through Durango for two reasons -
Alli has always wanted to see a town after which a truck was named (two
A's have Durango's) and Tim was either going to move to Durango or Santa
Cruz. So it was destiny. We honestly didn't expect all that
much of the town - thought perhaps it was all hype. We were
wrong! We had an awesome time of randomness - we didn't know where
we were staying until we rolled into town, and our knowledgeable B&B
proprietors hooked us up with a great Jeep/train adventure to the
13,000'+ summits the next day! Not to mention the microbrewery... |

Lightner Creek Inn is
in this little valley just 3 miles from Durango. We really enjoyed
our stay and especially this morning hike. |

Ok...enough with the foliage, right?! We knew we'd miss the
seasons out west, so we enjoyed our weekend during peak foliage season
(another complete surprise which made this an awesome stop!). |

The train ride back down the mountain - 3.5 hrs by narrow gauge
railway (coal powered train). Really beautiful, and slow enough to
grab some pictures while we were moving. |
