Dave took a week off around New Year's so we could have a few days of uninterrupted fun...

Here's a fun effect we applied to a picture of the Hotel del Coronado taken at sunset.  I think Dave did it better, but he didn't save his version, so I had to recreate it.  You're looking down a sidewalk at people watching the sunset.  The hotel is in the background.

Torrey Pines State Preserve

It was very busy this morning, but I had a brief second to catch Dave and the two surfers alone.  The tidepool in the foreground had little creatures in it!

Possibly the oddest creature I've ever seen...or maybe his friend to the right is?

These little guys were at the Birch aquarium in La Jolla.

The aforementioned odd creature - actually a seahorse.  Did you know that male seahorses are the ones to give birth, not females?!

Having fun at Seaport Village.  We took the ferry over from Coronado and walked all over town.

Balboa Park day - we went to several museums and saw a feature on Shackleton's amazing survival story from his voyage to the Antarctic in 1914.  Read Alfred Lansing's Endurance.

Dave took these next couple pictures...amazing architecture in the park.

This tree's roots grew over the wall and down the hill!

the menu: Asian salad (homegrown lettuce!), champagne in our wedding flutes (remember the bulletproof ones with detachable stems?) and fondue in our new pot.  ...and Bach.
