Here's Dave's favorite park...I hope I've done it
justice on this page! Zion is about 2 hours from Bryce. It was
raining the day we left Bryce, but by the next day we had beautiful
weather again for our hike through Zion. |
The Emerald Pools at Zion - we hiked to these early in the morning
before they got swamped with visitors. |

This is the middle pool - the water falls ~1000' from a cliff overhead
and makes its way down to the lower pool (left). |
Looking down the canyon from about halfway up Angel's Landing (at
right). You can see the river as well. |
From Scout's Lookout, this is the freaky part of Angel's Landing ahead
of us. The 12" wide trail climbs 0.5 mi to the summit, with
1500' sheer drops on either side (below). |
The view to the right on the way up. |
The view to the left. Dave took these shots! (Alli was
concentrating on the trail :| ). |
In some places a chain was provided because it was so
precipitous. You really can't believe the National Park Service allows people
up a trail like this! |
We made it! |
Thanks for helping me babe! |
Terra firma...what a relief. |
Weird rock in the Hidden Canyon. |
More sheer rock on this trail - look Mom, no hands! |
An arch in the Hidden Canyon...we found another one that we don't think
too many people notice :) |
Dave's hydration system worked...a bit too well! |
Flanigan's Inn, just outside the
park. It's a great place to stay and eat - our room was just 20
yards from this patio where we enjoyed dinner after our hike. They
also have a pool, spa and hot tub. |
The best beer in the world - after a 15 mi day and that crazy Angel's
Landing! |
